Meeting Minutes – October 13, 2023
Present: Justine Bachman, Steve Bachman, Donald Christ, Willard Dellicker, Harold Handwerk, Ron Jerdon, Bill Mantz,

1. MINUTES: The Sept 30, 2023 minutes were approved. Motion by S. Bachman, 2nd W. Mantz
2. TREASURER’S REPORT:   Balance as of Sep 27, 2023 is $25,565.05.  No change from last meeting
3. WEBSITE: Website is up-to-date including both of the Memorial Day videos from 2022 and 2023 are on-line along with the announcement of the Veterans Day Food Truck fundraiser.
4. DISCUSSION: 
   • Chris Brown completed a drawing that shows the stone wall and eight segments of granite caps which will be used for future engraving of names.
   • Ron Jerdon printed a large drawing of the proposed expansion for display at the Veterans Day event.
   • When Chris Brown completes a detail construction drawing of the granite cap segments it will be sent to Wenz and Womer for pricing.
   • After construction costs are estimated the committee will decide whether to construct either two or four sections of the perimeter for the next phase of the memorial site.
   • Bill Dellicker will get the latest list of new names submitted for engraving and determine how many spaces are left under each war for future adds.
   • We need to think about how to layout the names, wars and quotes on the new granite caps.
5. VETERANS DAY PLANS
   • Saturday November 11, Time 11AM – 4PM
   • Food trucks committed are 1) J Rads Pizza, 2) Up in Smoke BBQ, 3) Nesting box, 4) Iron Grille
   • Chris Noll will provide live music entertainment.
   • 8 Oaks has donated two bottles of Veterans Cut Bourbon for an OVER 21 raffle.
   • Justine has lined up an engraved pillow and a fall decoration for an UNDER 21 raffle.
   • Advertisement – Justine on social media, TV and Radio, flier for the NWPress.
   • NWL Middle School will have a “Scavenger Hunt” for their students to learn about the memorial.  Veteran attendees may be asked questions about their service.
   • Ron Jerdon has provided a large concept drawing of the future memorial expansion.
   • Committee members should arrive about 10:00AM to set up
   • Please put yard signs advertising the memorial in prominent locations
   • Please put fliers in businesses churches and other locations
6. FUTURE FUNDRAISING THOUGHTS
   • Discussed possible venues for wine and/or beer tasting fundraisers at local wineries and 8 Oaks.
   • Justine suggested sending a fundraising email to all previous donors showing the plans for expanding the memorial and the projected cost.  We need to develop a write-up with pictures, costs and schedule after more discussion.
7. NEXT MEETING: TBA, Will schedule before the end of the year to begin Memorial Day Plans.
